McClelland 2014 Sculpture Survey and Award
Plastic Glass Tree Form
The work I am proposing for the award is a 2.3 x 1.8 x 1 metre laminated clear plate glass tree form. The work harks back to an earlier point in my practice and one I have been wanting to make for some years. It alludes to the prevalence of ‘dieback’ among Eucalypts in Tasmania’s central plateau. Visible from the major highways that traverse the State, these trees have a certain morbid beauty that can both inspire and disturb.
